Introductory Articles: Half a Cup of Plot and a Dash of Character
This article is the fourth in a series of four that introduced the column on the Nishma website.
I read a classic Jewish source recently which stated that fantasy can actually damage the soul more significantly than even reprehensible behaviour because the spirit responds most powerfully to imagination, more so than to reality which lacks flight and dimension. Do you think this is a concern as it relates to film?
If fantasy can damage the soul more significantly than reprehensible behaviour, do we assume the same as it relates to positive behaviour? If so, can a good movie do more for your soul than a good deed?
